READ YOUR BIBLE!!!
Hello Family, it's been a minute here. This girl has been undergoing some spiritual re-construction with her lover, a much needed one at that so I am sorry I have been gone but I am back so let's get this rolling.
Today, I will be sharing why it is very(emphasis on the very) important for every proclaimed believer to read his/her BIBLE. We live in a time when every and anything is challenged, questioned or attacked, and this can be a good thing but in most of the cases I have experienced it has been quite alarming and disturbing. And we believers need to very grounded in the word of Christ so as to not be easily swayed by other people's fling of thoughts. God has called us into an ongoing relationship with him and the only thing that will keep us is knowing who that God is. And one of the many ways we get introduced to this God is the BIBLE. The Bible is fully and completely about Jesus, his characteristics, his ways and so on. The Bible reveals to us to the person of Christ. The Bible is not about you or me, it is about Jesus and we should approach it with such a mindset. I like to think of the Bible as Jesus's resume.
Some of the many controversial topics among believers today I believe is birthed out of ignorance about who we claim to worship. Some of us don't even know what we are doing in terms of this Christian thing. And this is not to say I expect every believer to have the same train of thought or agree on everything, but I believe that we are to strive to think, love and act like Christ and for this to happen we have to know who that Christ is.
Some Reasons Why We Need to Read Our Bible:
1. It reveals to you to the person of Christ. The Bible will expose you to the characteristics of Jesus, you get exposed to the ways of Jesus and begin to learn the ways in which he thinks, moves, loves, acts and so on.
Ephesians 1:17-22:
17-19: But I do more than thank. I ask the God of our master Jesus Christ, the God of glory to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him endless energy, boundless strength.
20-23: All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this Christ rules the church.
2. Jesus Christ is truth and so he should be our idea of truth.
John 14:5-7:
5- Thomas said, "Master, we have no idea where you're going. How do you expect us to know the road?
6-7 Jesus said, "I am the road, also the Truth, also the life. No one gets to the Father apart from me if you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him. You've even seen him"
3. Reading the Bible will sustain and nourish you. My youth pastor gives a great illustration that I think can help describe my point here. I am assuming we all have cell phones, for those devices to be able to function properly without dying on us at any point in time during the course of the day we have to fuel the battery by charging it regularly. Charging the battery sustains the cell phone and keeps it functioning properly. The same goes for our relationship with Jesus, for us to fully know him and keep the relationship alive we have to read our Bible so as to stay sustained and nourished.
So in three words "READ YOUR BIBLE"
Till next time, Peace!
