LET'S TALK MASTURBATION
What is Masturbation? Masturbation is the self stimulation of your genitals or other sensitive areas of your body for sexual arousal or pleasure. Some biological benefits of masturbation are:
- Reduce stress
- Relieve tension
- Improve sleep
- Increase your focus
- Boost your mood and so on
So it’s safe to say that biologically there’s nothing wrong with masturbating. With all that said, Should Christians Masturbate?
Who is a Christian? A Christian is someone whose behavior and heart posture reflects Jesus Christ. So back to my question, Should Christians Masturbate? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Why?
1 Corinthians 6:18 - 20 :
- 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
- 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
- 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
It’s true there no where in the Bible where it explicitly says Thou shall not masturbate. But for the most part the goal of masturbation is to attain sexual pleasure and the Bible does tell us when that is to be experienced.
Genesis 2:25 - And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.
Proverbs 5:18-19 : Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth. A lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breast fill you at all times with delight, be intoxicated always in her love.
Hebrew 13:4 : Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.
All these verses gives us context to when a Christian is supposed to experience sexual pleasure which simply means any context outside of that is sexual immorality.
Period! It doesn’t matter how you feel, what biology says, it doesn’t matter how biologically beneficial masturbating can be for you. If Jesus calls it Sexual Immorality, that’s what it is.
If you haven’t gotten the memo, you and I don’t own our body. The moment we decided to be followers of Christ and allow his word be a lamp to our feet, we died, as in Funmi/you died and rose in Christ. In simple terms we are slaves to Christ, and one fruit that a slave of Christ walks in is self control. Daily denying this flesh of its gratification. We don’t have the luxury to allow the enemy toss us to and fro when we literally the truth himself living in us.
We were not called to Masturbation, we were called to a life that replicates and glorify God. That’s it! That’s all I have to say.
Peace and Love!
